Assignment 7 Jobs

There are multiple freelance jobs you can find just by searching the internet.  Most don't require expierence or strict guidelines.  Locally the two main company's looking to hire are Old National Bank and Mead Johnson. Both require a Bachelors degree with 5+ years experience.

Assignment 6: SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization/Optimizer. The SEO makes a site more visually appealing.  It works wether it is a picture or the text in general.

Assignment 5: Defining design, usability, and accessibility on the web blog 5

There is a difference when it come to designing a website compared to coming up with any other design on paper.  When you design a website you have many other options to catch attention.  "Web design is the creation of digital environments that facilitate and encourage human activity; reflect or adapt to individual voices and content; and change gracefully over time while always retaining their identity."
Useability is a major key in developing a website.  People want to be able to access everything easily and be able to understand how the navigation's work.
Being able to have a site that can be accessed by everyone is key to having a successful site.  Expiceally if you have a site that sells something you want everyone to be able to navigate easily and access everything equally.

Blog Assignment 4: Critique of Photoshop web layout tutorials

The first tutorial I choose was Design Your Own Personal Portfolio Page in Photoshop.  It was easy to follow for the most part.  There were a few places that were a bit confusing to me but I was able to work my way through them to come out with the final result.   I like how it shows you step by step how and where the buttons you need are to create the page.

The second tutorial I choose was Design a Funky website Design in Photoshop.  I did not care for this one very much.  I don’t like how it told you to do things with out actually showing you how it is done.  I think it more then less expected you to be more advanced and know what you are doing.  At the same time I think this one is more open to you creating your own site out of what they tell you rather then step by step to be the exact same result as what they have.

The third tutorial I choose was Photo Portfolio Web Page Layout. I like this tutorial because it helps guide you through step by step.  Even though many points are vague you are still able to work through how it is all done.  This tutorial did teach me  how to  do some new things which the other two had not.

History of the internet and how the web works

Major technology came about in the 1960 which is what we call the internet.  In 1965 the email was came upon by a man named Doug Engelbart he not only was the creator of email but also came up with the first hyperlink text.  Before email came along most still used internet to connect with one another.  The internet email was later came up with in 1967.  In 1969 the internet cam in as we know it now.
By 1971 the internet was in full use within the 1970s.  Email became the main use in 73 and the first mailing list came out in 75.  A program called CBBS created by War Christensen came up with the first bulletin board system. It is thought that it took him two weeks to come up with the system which let people in to share their different software they had. Within the next year a similar system was created called the usenet and then MUDs (Multi-User Dungeons) a media game where you killed dungeons in the game World of War Craft.
The birth of IM was created in 1982 when Minitel created an online chess game with a chat room for the players.  Later people learned to create faces and shorter words for the internet considered emoticon. By 1990 the World Wide Web was created for CERN and then in 1995 people were able to create their own personal homepage.  From the year 2000 on the internet became the most advanced seen in years with new websites such as myspace and facebook the most well known to my generation.

VISC_110 Web Design

My goals for this class is to one day be able to design an entire website aiming towards my graphic design and photography career.  I wasn't very excited to take this class so I kept putting it off, and putting it off but now the more I look into it the more excited I am becoming.  I want to by the end of this class be able to learn how to make my own page for my hopefully one day business without having to hire someone to help me out.
I feel most people get their big start in business by having a web page along with word of mouth.  Seeing how successful Mark Zuckerberg is now just from learning how to create a social media network (Facebook) made me look more into coming up with a webpage for myself.  Having Facebook seems to be a big "thing" now.  Being able to get my site out to friends and family so the word will spread among everyone will help me a lot with achieving my goal of having a business of my own and becoming successful though technology.
